Can a 45-60 WCF match a 45-70 loads with smokeless powder
Can a 45-60 WCF match a 45-70 loads with smokeless powder in a modern rifle? I'm thinking of building one and since you can trim a 45-70 case length from 2.105" to the 1.89" to match the 45-60 WCF I could you my 45 70 brass. My thought was if loaded with smokeless powder I could still load the same amount of powder since the case was designed for smokeless powder and you have all that extra room with smokeless powder. And I would still load .458 bullets, so it would really be a 45-70 short. Do you think I would still be able to fire this in a standard 45-70 rifle? I'm trying to fit this in a smaller platform and still match the 45-70 ballistics. Thoughts and opinion welcome.( be gentle )
Thanks, Noah |

yes i think you could with a strong action(ruger, win high wall or p-14) but you already have that in a 458x2 american or the 450 mag. so if its for snits and giggles go for it. eastbank.
