The ruger DA revolver also latches from the front of the crane and there is a little "emergency" access hole on the front that will accomodate a paper clip.
Normally, the button on the left side of the receiver will push the spring-loaded knob in the center of the extractor star out of the hole of the revolver's breech face. This knob runs the length of the cylinder and also pushes against the retaining pin at the front of the crane. That mechanism might be dirty or broken, but pushing the little button on the front of the cylinder crane while also pushing the main cylinder release button may cause it to pop open. You might need 3 hands, though. |

Is it loaded or empty?
Handloads or factory stuff? Is the primer of one of the cartridges rubbing against the breech face? |

Cylinders turned possibly?
Out of time? Or did the last bullet you fire just pop lightly? Could there be a bullet lodged in between the barrel and the cylinder? |
