New Stock for my 270WSM and parts don't fit.

Ok I purchased a Boyd Ross thumb hole, laminated wooden stock for my Winchester 270 WSM.
It originally had a synthetic stock and I wanted to upgrade to a nice, comfortable thumb hole stock.
This stock was made for the short action winchester.
A little bit of sanding, and everything fits nicely.
The problem is the bottom plate that covers the magazine spring is part of the synthetic stock.
I tried to find a replacement at my local "gunsmith" pawnshop. He informs me that that part is not a replacement part. The non-synthetic stock has a completely different set up. The bottom plate is a door and the trigger guard and door and spring and magazine are all different.
This is not a problem except that he says they are not available and if they were they wouldn't bolt strait to my stock.
I am open for any input. I am too new to this game to figure it out for myself.
Thanks for the help.
