Remington elliot zig-zag
I have an original 6 shot. It is in good condition and I would like to keep it that way by giving it a proper cleaning. However, I hesitate to take it apart without specific information on proper procedure for fear it will never go back together.
Can anyone help? Thanks

Since less than 1,00 were made, and not many survived, they're pretty rare (and desireable to collector's) - So, I'd only give it a superficial wipedown with an oily cloth, if it were mine.
FWIW, here's the patent drawing: |

Thanks for the sketch. It is helpful. Yes, I am hoping very desirable. My concern I can see some old grease drying and certainly want to avoid any rust.

A swirl in kerosene should clear out the grease & leave an oily residue w/o damaging anything.

Thanks. Do you have one? Have you ever taken it apart?

Before you do anything to it, at all, you may want to look at the pre-sale estimate price on this auction:

Hmmmm. I have a Remington-Elliott four barrel .32. Maybe I should stop playing with it when I am reading these posts.

Thanks. I think I will do some basic cleaning without taking it apart and do more checking of my collection on the net.
