HP-38 = W231 IIRC. My data shows you at the starting charge. I would shoot them. Start with one and look for pressure signs, odds are extremely high there won't be any. Shoot a few more and check, then blast away,

I don't do 9mm BUT...

I have always been told that "magnum primers are the equivilant to 1 grain of powder". If you are at a minimum load, you should be OK. |

Another consideration is what you are going to shoot them in? Personally, I would run them through my Glock before I'd test-hop them in an old S&W Model 39.

I've used mag primers in place for standard primers and really didn't notice any difference. But I don't load hot!

reasons
I often use magnum primers in non-specified applications; in your case (oh, I love it!) you will be safe.
But I don't swap willy-nilly and I understand that pressure can increase 5,000PSI and certain loads will react differently (but I do often use mag primers in certain 9x19 loads). NOT RECOMMENDED; your results may vary.
