Opinions of Stoeger Coach Gun

I found a Stoeger Coach Gun, 12 Gauge, model str3000, SxS with the single trigger. It's very lightly used and I can pick it up for $280.00.

I've wanted a coach gun for a while just to own one. No big need.

Anyone have an opinion based on experience?

I have one with the double triggers. The triggers are a bit stiff out of the box and the gun packs a lot of recoil, especially with 3'' magnums. I like it mostly because of the "cool" factor. It hurts too much to shoot it a lot. That might be one reason your prospective purchase appears only slightly used.

The double trigger with extractors Stoegers are pretty tough. Lots of them in Cowboy shooting which is hard on a gun. Lots of problems reported with the single trigger ejector models. Rule of thumb, if you go inexpensive, keep it simple.

FWIW, the 3" Magnum chambering, stamped on the barrel(s), isn't mandatory - shoot 2-3/4" field or 2-1/2" (RST) low-power loads.
