I use Hornady 55 grain SP W/C. At Graf & Sons they are $8.81 per 100 if you buy 1000 and $8.52 per hunderd if you buy 2000. http://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/...productId/6134
The ultimate in savings though is buying from Wideners but then you've got to buy 5000 or more all at one time. Very good price and it includes shipping too. They have been out of stock of everything but the same Hornady soft points and SS109 for a while now. http://www.wideners.com/itemview.cfm...|281|1081|1141

O.P., you need to be more specific about what you want to load in .223. What's your your barrel twist rate, distance you intend to shoot, hunting, defense, target shooting, steel, 3-gun etc.
I'm not trying to be a wise ass but am trying to help you nail down what you need/want to order. Also, there isn't a projectile/primer/powder/cartridge combo out there I would load 1000 of until I've ran batches of combos through a variety of testing. I just want you to be able to buy the appropriate bullet that can work for you. Regards, Hobie |

i saw those bullets at grafs. they did seem to be the cheapest for new bullets. if i could save some more by buying pulled bullets, i do no mind but where?
also, this is gonna be shooting out of an ar15 16in barrel, 1/7 twist. distance is closer ranges, nothing beyond 100 yards. target/plinking/fun. |

Pulled bullets are a lot like seasonal candy, you've got to look around because no one stocks them year round. Gunbroker is a good place to look, so is Wideners and Hi-Tech ammo. I would stick with the Hornady bullets even if my 1:10 twist barrel could shoot SS109 simply because most place stock them as a regular product.
There are some cheaper FMJ-BT bullets out there but good luck finding them both in stock and cheap between now and a few months after the next election. I haven't tried the armscor bullets but others speak well of them. PRVI bullets less so.

All right! I hope you find the right load. I'll bet you have fun.
I'm getting ready to go to my cave and work on some .308 loads. I love this sport! Hobie |
