If you want to stay with the Glocks,check out the Roni1 Glock conversion. Its considered a SBR,& requires paperwork but its kind of neat!

My 1st choice would be a CZ P-01.

@Kel-Tec Sub 2000 suggestions

The Kel-Tec is light-weight, and compact with the folding option - That's about the extent of the pros as the trigger is horrible, reliability spotty, and the build quality is reflective of the price - it's unfortunate - as I like the concept but there you have it - I'd much rather have a PX4 or a Model 9...even the Hi-Point is a better carbine.

Good starter for the 9mm Pistol would be the Sig SP2022 (w/o night sights $379, with them, something around $460 currently, though Nelson Tactical has them listed for sub $400 they are not in stock).

Carbine I think the RRA LAR9 would be the way to go, no experience with that gun, but RRA makes a good solid middle of the road priced gun with some great features (at least in AR).

For the big gun, I would go used with something in Sig or HK (bias to Sig as I like them and made in the USA)

My personal choices would be :

Handguns: Glock 17
Beretta 92 FS
Carbine: Beretta CX4

I haven't fired any of the 3rd gen Smith & Wesson autos but I've heard lots of good things about them.

IMO you should stay away from brands like KelTec and Hi Point.

well the springfield XDM and ruger SR series pistols are both well beyond reproach and a highpoint crabine would be affordable and do the job. a Beretta CX4 is a very nice carbine but it seems like it would be very difficult to disassemble and clean. I personally built an AR15 in 9mm and it is a beautiful performer and is the most accurate 9mm carbine I've shot but with a $900 price tag it's kindof spendy.

If you want you can do what I did.

S&W 5906-Great full Size gun, used $350

S&W 469 - Compact, used $300

Marlin Camp 9-Used about $450

All of these use the same magazines, so not only do you share ammo across all platforms, but magazine interchangability as well. Makes for a great combination.

a walther p99 AS full size and compact(grip adapter and you can use full size mags),..or,walther PPQ and PPS(extremely thin).

skip the pistol caliber carbine,they're worthless except for fun or mounting better optics,..get yourself a real rifle,an AK of your flavor.

...but if you insist,you can get the triarii system from hera arms for the walther p99.

...or you can go a different route,get one all steel like a CZ(or some else you like) of your flavor and one polymer.

Best 9mm - CZ 75D Compact or P01 - NATO approved, check this forum for tests it had to go thru to meet the approval. Impressive to say the least. Fits your hand like it was made for it. 1911 9mm - check the new Rock Island High Capacity - my Rock Island 1911 9mm Tactical has been flawless and for the money there is not any other 1911 9mm that can beat it. Yes you can spend more but i'm just not sure it would be worth it. I would tell you to look into the Rock Island 1911 9mm Tactical but you stated you want more ammo capacity. Also, I have to second the Ruger P series. I once owned a P89 and it would shoot anything you would put in it and the recoil was sweet. My dad owned a S&W 5906, I got to shoot it a couple of times before he parted with it. Some feel this is one of the best 9mm's of all time. And since they are somewhat an older pistol they can be bought cheap. CDNN investments sell them for $300 but I'm not sure of the condition. Even in very good condition they are under $400. Can't offer anything on rifles. Good Luck.

I have a very similar setup (including S&W 469 & Marlin Model 9) only I traded out the 59XX for the lighter Daewoo DP51 - I also prefer the trigger and take-down of the gun over the Smith.

I agree on the Daewoo, great gun. Theres quite a few that I like better than the Smith, but it was cheap (comparatively)and it suited my purpose.

But I have to admit, when I bought 30 rounders for the camp 9, I couldnt resist sticking them in the 469...get a lot of head shakes at the range LOL
