Mossberg MVP Predator

Has anyone picked up one of these rifles yet. Are they any good? I've never had a mossberg rifle just a few shot guns. How do they shoot? I like the look and feel of them I just can't make up my mind. My LGS has one with a scope and bi-pod on it for $650.00 new.

I just bought one of these. They are fantastic. I have the predator. I tried 20 and 30 round mags. Worked flawlessly. Shot extremely well. At 100 yards put three shots the size of a dime over six times.

Got one with the scope. The scope and rings that come with it are ok ( no name on the scope) but i put a bushnell banner on it. It is a handy little rilfe.

Well I got home from work today. The wife decides we should go look at the rifle again. She was really liking it so I had to get it. Hope it shoots as good as it feels.

Post some pics with a range report when you get the chance! I spent about two weeks with one and it was a great shooter (with higher quality ammo).

Into a dime at 100 yds six times consecutively is no joke. Get some pics of this. I'd be real impressed by this rifle if it could do that as consistently as you say.

I've had my Mossberg MVP Predator for about 3 months now and have come to appreciate it a great deal.

The Predator comes with an 18 inch barrel chambered for 5.56 vice 223 and is rifled 1 turn in 9 inches.

The barrel is fluted from about an inch behind the muzzle to a point about an inch in front of the forearm.

I run mine suppressed and use a Weaver Tactical Grand Slam 3-10X40 Mil Dot scope for optics.



With my handloads of 25 grains of WC 844T, 50 grain Hornady Z Max bullet and military primed 5.56 cases, it'll shoot 5 rounds into 3/4 of an inch with boring regularity.

I will share that have tried heavier bullets (all the way up to 75 grains) but mine prefers lightweight bullets (55 grains and below).

Anything above 55 grains and groups tend to open to 1.5 to 2 inches at 100 yards regardless of powder/primer/bullet combination.

I have taken a few Coyotes so far this year and it's also been used to take about a hundred or so jackrabbits.



Feed and function with 20 and 30 round military surplus magazines has been flawless and to me the old military 20 round mags seem to look right with this specific rifle.

Mines had about a thousand rounds through it since I've had it and there have been no problems of any sort to report,

The trigger is of the Accu Trigger type and is user adjustable down to around 2.5 to 3 pounds and breaks a little stiffer than I'd like but it's easy to manage. Group size doesn't suffer from the percived stiffness in mine.

All in all it's a great little rifle.

If you can find one, I would wholeheartedly recommend it for plinking, varmint hunting and general woods bumming.

I have one, and have yet to fire it, I have loaded some ammo, for it, I think it's a good looking/fitting gun , I may weather permitting take it out tomorrow

I didn't care for the varmint edition they came out with last year but this is right down my ally. Looking forward to being able to paw one.

The scope it comes with blows. I put a bushnell banner on mine works great.

my LGS is raffling one off to benefit special needs for families of local law enforcement officers. it's a great concept and the rifle certainly looks like it could be a tack driver. mossberg isn't overly known for their work with anything but shotguns and ugly lever actions(sorry, just had to throw that in) but I think that the MVP predator has all the makings of an instant classic if they can keep QC up and make sure that the first few owners are happy enough to recommend them elsewhere.

Yup, I'm loving it. finally had time to sight it in and have some fun with the MVP. it shoots great. using reloads in it shooting 68 gr. hornady tips. Now as soon as deer season is over I will be trying to see just how good she does on coyotes.

I wish it came in other calibers. I like the way it looks. heard they are nice shooters.

it uses USGI AR15 magazines so your options for calibers are going to be slim, 300 AAC out of a bolt action just seems like a recipe for disappointment.

if they release a larger AR10 design then the 22-250, 243, and 308 would probably be very popular as well.

Well I was able to go out and shoot my new gun, boy I had theat thing right on, I shot 35 round through it, and right off the bench, I could hit things at 100 yards consistantly I would suggest it to my friends and family
