I NEED a Shield... Where they at?

Since it seems nearly impossible to find a 9mm M&P Shield at a reasonable price I turn to the masses. I can wait until the market cools down (if it ever does) to buy one under $500 if I need too.

Any sighting recently?

Where at? Every Local Shops in central Ohio laughs at me when I ask.

I got a good lead of one in Colorado only to be told I was a day late. That is just my luck...

If anyone has seen or heard of any 9mm Shields please let me know.

I been looking since early December. I made the decision to buy right before the CT shooting and can't find one since. Supposedly, I'm second in line on my LGS waiting list but I check online every day also.

You could always buy one here if you're willing to pay a premium for it.

I held one a few months ago, before everything hit the fan. It was only $429, but I had seen them online at that time for $389 so I didn't buy it. What a mistake that turned out to be. So now I have my CCW and only a Sig 226 to carry. Uhh... its a little big.

Saw one on ebay, about $1000, has a window so you can see whos in front of you.

I would try gunbroker or budsgunshop. I have not seen one in a shop for a while, they are low cap magazine and shouldn't be hard to find..?

I thought the same thing, but unless a person is willing and able to pay upwards of $650 or $700 they are completely sold out anywhere I have looked.

Heartbreaking...

Steve, where do you hail? When I ask my LGS they giggle. Most of them are now S&W shops though. $399 is a great price, I would buy every one of them.

Our shop keeps one on display and our price is $429.00 but we have a waiting list with 53 names on it. At the rate we are getting them in it will be April or May before we exhaust the current list even if everyone does not take theirs. We don't require any money down. Had a customer the other day offer $50.00 extra to move him from #32 to #1. When I declined he upped it to $100.00. I advised him we could just take his name off the list. End of discussion.

At this point, I am having trouble finding a list to jump onto, I have check four local places and they tell me they don't do waiting lists.

Can I climb on board your list from Ohio?

If your willing to settle for something similar to a Shield I've been told that the Walther PPS is a better gun. That was their opinion and I'm still holding out for the shield though.

Finding a Shield

I wish you the best of luck! I've been on a list at my LGS for
about five months now. When I returned home from visiting
my folks at Christmas, I saw the phone number of the LGS on
my caller ID. I later found out that a .40 had come in but since
they didn't reach me they went to the next name on the list. I'm
still a little hacked about that. I was checking my messages, so
if they would have bothered to leave me one, I could have called
them & bought it over the phone, or something.

I was told a 6 month wait, and there's already 60 on the list waiting....

I've seen them easily going for $600-$800 on GunBroker, in fact I saw a couple auctions get insane and go for over $1000!!

Maybe I just got lucky, but about a month ago, I got a tip on the S&W board that Florida Gun Exchange had some Shields in. I immediately called and asked, and sure enough they did have a few in stock. I ordered one and had it on the way to my FFL right then. I paid MSRP for it. And I had shipping and FFL fee on top of that. From what I saw on the S&W board, the Shields that they had in stock were gone in a matter of hours.

Evidently, FGE doesn't keep waiting lists. This is true for a lot of dealers. Since I found mine, I stopped looking, but I suspect that checking the S&W forum fairly regularly, and persistently calling a few known dealers might still pay off.

Back in the spring I saw 4 Shields in the $429.00 to $449.00 range and was able to pick up a couple of them. Today, I was in a LGS and a guy was picking up his that he had ordered 8 months ago. I saw one sell on gunbroker the other night for $711.00. There was another one that had a buy now price for $900.00. Things are absurd.

There is a guy on Armslist in Springfield Missouri that is selling one. Just saw the ad and thought of this thread.

Here is a link to the ad on Armslist.com:

I lucked up and found one in one of the LGS here in Tampa, went in to be nosy and not looking for anything in particular. But that was back in August. Paid $439 for it.

It's slowly coming time that I will be able to buy my CCW firearm and the shield is slowly creeping its way onto my final list. If I do decide on picking this gun I sure hope I can find one.

You will grow old and gray trying to find the Shield.

Get a Bersa BP9. It's the best 9mm thin stack ccw on the market. Paid $374 at Academy. Same size as Shield or PPS. Carries 8 plus 1. Comes with plastic case and 2 mags. Excellent quality firearm.
