Scope Mounts for AC556
I checked out a few AC556 rifles today and I absolutely want one. It may take me over a year to save for one but I shoot so much .223 and own tons of Mini 14 mags that this seems like the best Full Auto for the price.
If/When I get one I was wondering about putting Elcan scope on it. I know this is an Odd question but is this possible? I know the Mini 14 Ranch Rifles eject differently than the Standard models and the AC556 looks like its probable more along the lines of the Standard Mini 14. Can it be done without too much of a Hassle?

Not sure this'd work, but this is what B-Square has :
Ruger MINI-14 MODEL 181 & Later Scope Mount (Blued) $64.95 14502 With 1" Interlocking Rings. See-under type allows use of gun's sights. Standard dovetail base. Attaches by a single knob to the threaded cover plate. TO INSTALL: REPLACE THE BOLT STOP COVER PLATE WITH A SINGLE KNOB TO THE THREADED COVER PLATE. Blue Finish. (It's also available in stainless) |

I've a couple of mounts from B-Square - one is a riser and mount for an AR-15 varmit gun, and the other is a QD mount for my f/a FNC. Both mounts are well made and worth the cost, especially the one for the FNC. I've seen factory FNC mounts for ~$300 - this one is a Quick Detach spring loaded with a solid locking block, works great with my Aimpoint.
I have no qualms about B-Square's quality or value based on what I've bought. |

Never mind I just looked them up. How much do they go for? Do they take AR mags?

A guy has one now on the Bower's Board 4 position w/3 round burst and full auto, 16" Para model, for $4000. I've seen them advertised for $39-4600.
Yep, they take AR-15 mags. |

I have one of those B-Square mounts on my KAC556, and it works great. No fitting involved, it goes right on and is very solid. I can take it off to clean the gun or install the .22 kit, put it back on, and its zero hasn't moved. Can't ask for more than that.
BTW, I'm using it to mount a ProPoint Optima 2000 dot sight, which is great. Be careful of tube-type sights, as the stress of FA fire often knocks the lenses loose. Both the 2000 sight and the mount go on sale; I got good prices at Cheaper Than Dirt, check Natchez, also. |
