28ga reloading
While I'm new to reloading, I work with a guy who used to reload, 20+ years ago, and he is not up on the new powders, anyone out there have any load data on a full one ounce hunting load for the 28gA? I'm looking to get some one ounce wads from midway, think they are ibc or some such initials, and am using winchester hulls, would like to use #4 or #5 shot and a full ounce load, powder is the big question he is not up on the new powders and I will only be reloading 100+ a year, so a few pounds should do and the price on the internet would be a little high with the priced of hazmat and shipping, so a local source would be better, wally world, or local shop if it is a common powder. any info would help along with a data sheet if possible, thanks in advance.

I use 3/4 oz. for all pheasant hunting I've done, pen raised and wild. Only had 2 that the dog had to "work" to get. The load is (use at your own discretion):
13.5 Unique 3/4 oz. #5 Rio 209 Primer Remington STS hulls Claybuster wad Dillon SL-900 |

Alliant just came out with a new powder exclusively for 20 and 28 gauge reloading. I think it is called 2028. The listed web sites should have data for it.

Go to www.shotgunworld.com and check the reloading section. Tons of 28 ga. loading info there.

I find it hard to believe that loading a 28ga to 13/16oz or 7/8 oz isn't going to be good enough for you / but I don't know anything about squirrel hunting either.
The heaviest load I can find is 7/8 oz Win AA HS hulls, win 209 primer, Hodgdon Lil Gun 25gr - but it calls for a wad BP SG28 II that I've never seen anywhere. But the books says its pretty fast at 1275 fps - if you can find that wad. Hodgdon Lil Gun powder should be pretty easy to find in a well stocked reloading store. There are more common loads available for 3/4 oz of shot / using Hodgdon Longshot or Universal - with wads that I know you can get like Rem PT28 , WAA28HS, etc. I don't think you can get 1 oz of shot to fit into a 28ga hull frankly / and I don't think you can buy a commercial load for 28ga over 7/8 oz ( and nothing common over 3/4 oz that I've seen around ). |

bigjim I have two boxes of winchester super x game loads factory 5 shot one ounce loads, just trying to duplicate them, and I cannot find any info or data on the reloads. the side of the box says to use published load data, winchester site has no data for one ounce they are the HS hulls think it says to use waa28hs wads and I could find no info on them either. these shells came from a local gun show but they are factory shells in factory box. winchester site doesn't even show anything larger than 6 shot
