AR value
So I've got this friend who owns one of these evil black, AR15 rifles. He was considering selling it before all the gun panic started. Do to recent turn of events he decided to hold off selling it. But now that the value of the said rifle is going up like gold, he just might sell it to finance some other gun wish list items( like a custom 1911 ).What I'm wondering is what is the current market value on ARs... should he wait and let value go up more? He's not the type to try and screw people with price gouging, but i guess guns are like real estate. The price is determined by market value. By the way the rifle is a brand new, never been fired M&P 15, he put a UTG quad rail, and a cheap red dot scope on it.

Sadly it would probably sell for $2000+ right now. Tell him that he should keep it.

Here in NY the highest price i've seen so far is $4800 for a Colt SP-1 with a scope. SW M&P and Bushmasters are averaging $1900-$2300. You cannot buy a used Colt for under $2800. And this is from the classifieds. A guy in a gunstore i frequent told me when a truck is making a dropoff with new ARs there are already people there waiting for them! I had planned on up grading from my Colt match target A2 style to a Colt SOCOM but with this panic going on i'll just lay low for a while.

I just bought an M&P 15 for $795 on Thursday of last week from Gander Mountain. Love it. A UTG quad rail is worth about $40, cheap red dot about $30 and not too many people would want those anyway.
New shipment coming in a couple of weeks and I plan on getting another for my kids. |

Note, that with current AR prices, there is a significant difference between
Value and Price.

Not saying people wouldn't want the rifle. As I mentioned, I wanted one also and just bought one. Just saying that cheap accessories don't add much value.

Why not sell a gun for 3 -4 times its value if someone is willing to pay for it?the gun sold for 659.99 around here-to sell it for 2500-3000? why not?

I'm tempted to pick up a DPMS that I believe I can still get new for $700+ and see if I can trade it even up for a Model 70 , a good semi-auto pistol and some reloading equipment. That seems to be where the prices are going.

I'm thinking about selling all my AR's as well. Ak? I will never sell it, but I am not attached to the Ar's as much as I would be attached to the price 6 of them and about 40 magazines would bring right now.
