Took the 7.62x25 out for a range trip (large pics)
I decided to take my two 7.62x25 pistols out to the range the last time I went and took a couple photos after I got home. The photos are much larger than I thought.
The Tokarev is a Romanian. The CZ-52 is of course Czechoslovakian. Both pistols were produced in 1953. |

I tried the CZ52 on bowling pins once. We had an argument about velocity vs mass. Used the '52 to represent a small bullet at high velocity and a 44 MAG w/ a 300 gr. cast flatnose @ about 750 FPS as the opposite. The 7.62 X 25 went through the pins without knocking them over, much less moving them off the table. They just wiggled some.
Also used the '52 against a discarded Level 2 vest, folded in half and duct taped to an oil drum. Went all the way through everything and into the dirt berm 40 yds beyond. |

What kind of surplus were you using?
How do the two compare? I love my 1953 Romanian Tok. 1953 was a great year for pistols, apparently. |

I can't for the life of me remember what surplus ammunition that I have for mine. It shoots well and is accurate and doesn't seem to be very corrosive. It is stab crimped as you can tell by the photos so I get a lot of split cases out of the Tokarev but not as many out of the CZ-52.
I actually prefer shooting the CZ because I have large hands the Tokarev grip is a bit short for my taste. Other than that, the two are both great pistols to go out and plink with. The CZ is HEAVY compared to the Tok so it makes it recoil a bit less. |
