i recently bought a yugo 59/66 yugo.. i thot it was semi -auto when i bought it but when i shot it i needed to hand load it..? does any one know if its supposed to be that way or if it wus modified? and how i can change it back to semi-auto? i thought it was the replacement magazine i had in it but i tried with the stock ten round mag and it made no difference.

Ensure the gas shutoff valve is in the correct position

Dissasemble the rifle and make sure that there is a gas piston in it. Also make sure the gas shutoff valve is in the right position... to my knowledge (which is fairly limited) some SKS models have a gas shutoff in them which in essence turns them into a straight pull bolt action from a semi-auto action.

When its all apart give it a real good cleaning as well... that never hurt any gun.
