Old Marlin 336
I just came about an older Marlin 336 in .30-30. THe serial # code indicates that it was made in 1964 and It's in good condition. The wood is in good shape with only one substantial scratch. The brown finish is about 70% and there's a little surface oxidation. The barrel is bright with good rifling and it mechanicaly perfect. No safety. What is it worth? I'm thinking of maybe trading it for a .243 for my wife.

The hammer acts as the safety on lever action rifles. If your's is a Plain-Jane 336 it's not worth more than $150 or so in the condition you've described.
