Ive owned around 40 1911's in my life time, and by far, they were the most trouble. The Colts and GI guns were fine, allowing for some tweaks with the early guns, the Kimbers and Springfields were the worst.

Ive owned about the same number of SIG's, Glocks, and HK's combined, and only ever had trouble with one early Glock.

I had a problem with a Ruger 1911 but after sending it to the factory it now runs good.

I have a Walther P22 that was very picky until about 1000 rounds where fired through it.

For me personally it was the Walther P22 followed by a Llama mini max 1911. The Walther would not get through a single magazine without multiple jams, FTF, FTE, etc regardless of the type of ammo used. Sold it 2 weeks after I bought it. The Llama would not feed the last round of a magazine regardless of ammo type and magazine brand. Ended up having to replace the barrel and then sold it.

Biggest piece of junk I've owned was a Taurus TCP. My first and last Taurus. I took it on a trade and it was traded right back off ASAP. I couldnt imagine using a CCW that has to have another round manually loaded to resume operation if the trigger is even SLIGHTLY short stroked. And its designed that way by Taurus! Even says it in the owner's manual. I've never had a habit of short stroking a trigger but in a self defense situation no one knows how they might react unless they've done it before. I wont bet my life on something with such a design flaw.

Got that gun from Daddy Fred's estate and one look told me to never fire it. He was a character. Also got a 1918 made 1911 original Gov't issue. He musta stole it from somewhere...

Its okay though. I know the Gen 4's have some issues with brass cased high fives to the face. Anyways, my father-in-law has 2 Ruger SR9's. I've got to say, I hope they were lemons because they had a failure to feed with almost every other round. We tried cleaning them, changing mags, and using different ammo. It certainly might not be the worst gun out there, but its the worst individual gun (I'm sure some SR9's are great) that I have ever fired.

I agree. With 1911s you have to properly clean them (once in awhile), use quality magazines (Wilson's mags, etc), properly lubricate them, and do not limp wrist them.

Does a cracked frame with standard pressure factory ammo make something a POS?

If so, then a HiPoint qualifies and gets my vote. I had to tell a guy his HiPoint was junk when he came to me with it jammed loaded and half in battery. I tried to beat it open, but when I saw the frame cracked, I told him to call them and ask what to do or pitch it.

Also, for the mods:How does POS pass the mod test for good language, but suck does not? Just wondering. Don't care that much, so please do not view as a complaint or issue...

Not sure it was a 'POS' but the CZ52 I owned had terrible ergonomics and very sharp edges. It also shot a full 2' under POA at 30 yards.

Smith & Wesson SD40 and Llama Mini Max single stack .45acp. Both were horribly unreliable with the SD40 taking top slot. Others may have had betterluck but those are my biggest POS firearms to date.

I once had a gen3 Glock 23 that was a total piece of crap.

Now, I'm a Glock fan boy, and I love glocks in general. I've had a few other 23's that were perfectly reliable. I just happened to have this ONE that was aweful. Couldn't make it through a full magazine without at least one jam... usually 2 or 3.

I tried all kinds of things... leaving it stock... different recoil spring... recoil buffer pad... extra power magazine springs... ejectors... extractors... nothing could make that dang thing run well. The most reliable combination I found was the extra power magazine spring from wolff, stainless guide rod with extra power spring, and stock everything else.

What a nightmare that thing was....

I had a Jennings JA-22 that was actually pretty reliable. It still jammed pretty on occaision as most 22's do... but I could get through a few of it's 6rd magazines with cci minimags.

My personal worst- AMT Combat Government Model.

Overall bad designs- Colt All American 2000 and S&W Sigma .380.

My vote would be for the COLT 2000. You had to shoot one to appreciate it. NOT.

Even though is has never given me any reliability problems, the big, ugly, clunky, Ruger P85 is probably the least favorite gun that I own. It isn't the smoothest gun, it isn't a tack driver, but to its credit, it is reliable.
