Just checked .... No more CX4's being made. When existing inventory is gone, they're history. Bummer, its a really nice gun.

My 9mm carbine is a Calico.
I rather like it. 100rnd mag is a chore to load (and I only have one, currently), but is a lot of fun. Probably out of your price range now, was $450 back when I got mine.

I've been doing research on this same topic. Hipoint is the winner. I'm not one for the cheapest solution but in this case you aren't going to do better. I've looked into all of the possibilities I can think of, oddly enough only one mentioned so far I hadn't thought of.

I really want one of the Uzi knock offs made by century, the centurion UC-9 carbine. They are only about $600 right now which seems like a good deal. I just have a really hard time justifying the purchase. I know it would be a lot of fun but I have limited funds and a lot of other purchases I should probably make first.

Nice carbine, heavy but looks like a rifle instead of something like a science fiction film like so many pistol-caliber carbines. I managed to get one a few years ago in 90% condition through GunsAmerica, and prices have been climbing steadily since then. People that own them tend to keep them. Accurate enough out to maybe 50-75 yards... makes a good home defense gun. |

I was in the same boat, wanting a 9mm carbine. Did all of the usual due diligence and research. Hi-Point and the CX4 just don't fit my eye so that ruled them out. I did not want a light weight folder so the KelTec was out. I did consider the PCU but I did not want to dedicate one of my pistols full time to it. Olympic, Circle 10 and LWD were out of my $700 cap price range. Had it finally narrowed down to a JR Carbine or a PSA. What tipped the scales was break down and serviceability between the two. I ended up with an American Made PSA9 and could not be happier.

Almost bought the 995ts today. Just can't get over how ugly it is.
Maybe next month. |

The guys who work the counter at my store said discontinued too. But they aren't always in the know .... Hopefully they're wrong this time.
I think the HiPoint pistols are ugly as heck, but I actually like the look of their carbines. And you can hang gizzy whiches every where if you're into that stuff (I just have a light on mine). The only downside on the HiPoint imo is the 10rd magazine. A 15rd double stack would have been nice with a 20rd option available. :-)

Hipoint has really missed the boat not having a glock mag compatible carbine, haven;t they? I've contacted them previously concerning this and the reply was a VERY firm no. Almost like a 'we don't want o cross into AW territory and we'd rather shutdown than deal with those regulations' type of no.

CZ Scorpion Carbine
The CZ is looking really good, but it is closer to $900. A while back Taurus had some info on a carbine they were making, did it make it to market? Have neer seen one. I'm leaning towards the CZ, but having a hard time with the price...
I know CZ makes good stuff though, have a few of their .22's and a CZ-85 Combat.

Taurus blew it. It was imported as a thumbhole sporter with proprietary lo-cap mags for $800. Of course nobody bought them, so it was rapidly discontinued.
The sad part is that they accept AR grips and trigger parts, and could have accepted Colt magazines or similar. 922r would have been a walk in the park, but Taurus was just too lazy to bother. |

I have the JR Carbine in 9mm. It works well.
My son has the 995TS and it has been flawless. Paid about $250 for it NIB.
