I gave it up 20 years ago for G-96 and never went back.

Slip 2000 EWL and Slip 2000 Carbon Killer Now. I am trying to get my hands on Some frog lube to try.

I need to order some Slip 2000 EWL 30 to try plus some of their copper cleaner.

The Carbon Killer really gets the carbon.

Break Free CLP smells .... not good for CCW.

Don't wanna smell like a gun nut i the produce aisle.
I certainly hope you were joking when you wrote this, otherwise that just may be the silliest statement I've seen on here and that is saying a lot.

I use it, works well, but isn't as good as #9 at cleaning carbon. I see it as more of a lube than a cleaner.

That stuff is amazing. Is it hard to get in some areas?

I use Breakfree CLP as a cleaner and rust preventive. It's a bit "light" for lubrication for my taste, especially on the rails. It works most of the time but I have seen guns that did not like it. I use Mobil 1 5W-30 or 10W-30 but FP-10 and Militec 1 are also good.

Breakfree CLP is a great product, but I prefer Eezox. I recently bought a bottle of Frog Lube...but haven't tried it yet.

In my opinion, the paste version is much better than the liquid. It stays on much longer than conventional lube and when it comes time to clean the gun you just wipe it off and the carbon comes with it. Terrific stuff.

If I had to limit myself to just one product for cleaning, lubrication and protection, I'd probably pick Breakfree CLP. In fact, in my range bag, the only thing I carry is Breakfree CLP.

I've found that it's a good lubricant. It should be, its lubricant component is a synthetic oil like Mobil 1. At one time, they contained exactly the same synthetic oil, as a matter of fact, but it's likely that both formulas have been changed since the last time I was able to verify that fact.

I've found that it is a surprisingly good cleaner/nitro solvent. I don't use it much at the bench because it's messier than many of the other options I have available, but occasionally, when I'm done cleaning a bore, I'll put a patch of CLP through the bore and let it sit to see what comes out of the "clean" bore. Sometimes it's surprising what it can clean out of a bore that's already been cleaned by other single purpose cleaning products.

From the online tests I've seen, it's a very good protectant. It seems to score at, or near, the top in the corrosion tests I've read. Not the best, but certainly very good.

All that said, at home, I have more space than I do in my range bag and I use it. I have a number of different lubricants that I choose from based on the application, a number of different cleaners, and various protectants. Cleaners, lubes and protectants make up a very, VERY small part of my firearms expenditures and I see no need to restrict myself to just one product.

Anti gun nazi's do not recognize the smell of clp, why would they, they havent been exposed to it. Nice try!
Are you telling me that all the current and former .mil are pro gun? Are all the current LEOs (who maintain their weapons as well ...at least I hope they do, because I am paying for them .....) pro gun?

If you smell like gun Break Free, then someone who knows what it smells like is going to surmise you have a gun.

I use the same scentless solvent and oil on my Carry gun as I do on my hunting rifle.

Am I to understand you walk up to individuals and sniff them to determine if they are carrying?

Unless the gun is drenched in Break Free or the person is, I would be amazed if you can smell it over all the other smells on your average person.

Since I stopped smoking a decade ago, I have been amazed at what I can smell now...... the stoners that think nobody knows they just hit up a bowl after work .... gasoline stink on my hands after filling up .... if I smelled Break Free at Super Saver, I'd assume somebody had a gun.

Or had been using it for a number of purposes. Heck they might have used it on a gun, but not have it on them!

Again if you can smell it beneath my deoderant, my general stank, and the fact is is beneath a shirt near my rear end, then my golly more power to you.

Edit: By the way my comments are in reference to the liquid, which isn't near as strong as the aerosol.

If you are in the produce aisle and have a "general stank" that your deo lost the battle with, I'm going to assume you have some behavioral or substance use issues .... and give you a wide berth just on GP.

CLP has been used for many years by lots of shooters. That said, there are many products on the market which are better at performing the three tasks of cleaning, lubricating, and protecting.

Froglube.....I put that stuff on everything!

I've used Breakfree CLP exclusively on all of my guns for over two decades. It always works for me, no complaints or plans to replace it...I see no need to fix what ain't broke.

You guys think BreakFree CLP smells? I use it sometimes because it doesn't smell and won't get the wife complaining. Now, Eezox is a CLP that smells -- a good smell, IMO, but something that is strong. And we won't even talk about Hoppes #9.
