genesis, are they good guns?
i have found a sale on remington genesis muzzleloader, its a blue barrel camo stock for $215.00 shipped. is this a good deal?, and are they good guns? all i've ever owned are cva's, and lately i've had trouble with the action being a little looser than i'd like. i noticed the remington doesn't break open but has a cam that opens, so thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi old fart,
1. Considering that the Genesis is a discontinued model that's not a bad deal. When Cabela's had clearanced the base models for $99 and Remington offered rebates, many folks bought them and posted good reports about them. However, there's no customer support/parts available for them through Remington it seems. One of the only common complaints is that the drop block needs to be wiped clean very often between shots or it gets sticky which is easy enough to do. And the Genesis has a 28 inch barrel which means that it's heavier. 2. The Genesis shares the same basic design and manufacturer as the Traditions Yukon except the Yukon has a 24 inch barrel making it handier and more lightweight. Right now Traditions has an internet special on a nickeled & camo Yukon for $149. I mention it because you once said that you didn't like heavier rifles and the shorter Yukon weighs 6.5 lbs. http://www.traditionsfirearms.com/es...ductCode=R4106 For $159 Traditions has the same nickeled/black Yukon with a free 4X32 scope, rings and mounting bases and it weighs 7 lbs. with the scope. ----> http://www.traditionsfirearms.com/es...tCode=R4100-S1 For comparison, the black/nickeled Genesis at Buds Gunshop is $333. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/a...esis&x=13&y=13 Last edited by arcticap; December 10, 2009 at 01:58 PM. |
