if it's stamped 1889 then it isn't an arisaka... period.
the type 30, the oldest arisaka and first rifle chambered for 6.5x50mm was adopted in 1898. if yours is indeed from the 1880s then it is a Murata Rifle, not an Arisaka and it was later rechambered from an 8-11mm black powder cartridge to the 6.5 which would make shooting any round from your gun incredibly dangerous.
