Get a manual.

Tomlj75--What's keeping you from getting a new manual? The data you get off the I'net are worth exactly what you pay for them. What you need are authoritative hard copy recipes, worked out by knowledgeable engineers with pressure guns.

It really screws up your weekend, making your beloved Old Betsy go Kaboom! proving that the PhD's really were right.

Most serious reloaders have a large, and constantly growing, collection of reference material. The major makers all put out for-free pamphlets of loads for new cartridges, which they then put into the next edition of their big for-sale manuals. Your local gun shop should have some of the pamphlets for the asking, and you can write the other makers for theirs.

But if you're doing reloading, I earnestly suggest that you DO want a new manual, better yet, 2-3 of 'em, always the latest edition.

A quickee way to go for a single caliber is Loadbooks, which collect load data from several sources in one book. Source: www.loadbooksusa.com I think it is. Also available at your local shop or a gun show.

I was going to say almost the exact same thing.

The Lyman 48th edition has a couple loads for the 480 Ruger, I just bought mine a few days ago and I think it was around 17 bucks.

You really do need to get an updated manual, 20 dollars isn't worth your life, or your gun for that matter.

I currently use 3 different manuals for reference, A Lyman 46th edition, and a 48th, then I have a Speer # 11 edition.
Next time Midway has another brand on sale, I'm going to get another one.

It never hurts to compare loads from different books, even from my small collection, some loads vary Greatly (as much as a grain or more) for the same bullet, case, powder, primer, etc.

If you're that strapped for cash, check out the local library, sometimes you can find what you need there.

OR , you can do what I did. When the 300 WSM first came out, there was no manual that had ANY loading info in it. The only sources for it came from the bullet/powder companies that had done some prelininary work-ups for it. One was Hornady, the other was Accurate arms powder companies. In both cases, an e-mail to them resulted in snail mail copies of hadwritten notes from both companies. If I had waited, Hornady just came OUt with data in their latest manual for the 300 WSM, I would have waited for 4YEARS!

Therefore, I would recomend you write to Hornady and ask for whatever they have for the .480 Ruger. if THEY HAVE SOME INFO, THEY WILL SEND IT TO YOU!

They're going to get their butts kicked over there this election. How come people can't spell and use words correctly?
