9X19?
Loaders:
So im amongst the some brass I picked up at the shooting range are cases that look identical in size to 9mm. The mark on the bottom is 9X19. Are they the same as 9mm? Live well, be safe Prof Young |

most 9mm pistols in the u.s. are 9x19 it is the most common kind by far, then youve got .380 auto (9mm short) then youve got 9mm makarov (less common) and then youve got 9x21 (personally have never seen one of these) which is used in spain and other places which ban civilians from using the same ammo as the military. If you buy a pistol in the u.s labeled "9mm" chances are it will be 9mm Luger (9x19) by far.

I have two 9 x 21 aka 9mm Largo Star auto pistols that I reload for. Star currently sells the brass for this caliber.

...and it's almost guaranteed people firing a 9x21 will be picking up their cases.
But anyway the only '9x' issue I've run across is S&B '9mm mak' stamped cases, for the Makarov. |

Yes, 9x19, 9mm Luger, 9mm Parabellum are all the same thing. 9mm NATO is also the same case and bullet but is an higher pressure variant.
I beleive the actual designer named it 9x19 Parabellum.

The 9mm Parabellum is the 9X19mm or 9mm Luger. Howeveer, my references list at least 15 different 9mm cartridges that have been produced commercially in the last 100 plus or minus years. At least 8 of these 9mm's(not including the .380 Auto and the .38 Super) are currently being loaded commercially somewhere in the world today.
Common sense safety requires that the only cartridges that should be used in a firearm are the ones for which that firearm is designed. As George Nonte graphically demonstrated in a Gun digest article many years ago, There are NO interchangable 9mm's. |

Not to pick a nit... But... 9MM Largo is 9x23. NOT 9x21
