anybody here shoot a Winchester SX3...

had the pleasure to tryout a demo-gun last week. It was a 20ga/28" field model. Wow, what a nice autoloader. Can't say enough good things about it! Not one hiccup in two rounds of clays and 25 wobble trap. The gun cycled so well, I was amazed. Pretty much the same gun as the Browning Silver Hunter.

If I was looking for a nice 20 bore, 6.5 lb. gas fed autoloader, the SX3 would be it!!

They should be much more popular. One of my sons shoots a Browning Silver for hunting, skeet and sporting. Weve had zero problems and its very easy to maintain.

Yeah they really are nice guns, I especially like how the sporting models have steel plates in the reciever to stop the wear created by the shell loading. I tried I new sporting adjustible model that a friend had. I really couldn't hit a thing with it

, but the gun did fit well. I also noticed on his example that the reciever rings with every shot, something I've noticed on some 391s.

I have one and like it a lot! I have the 12 gauge composite model with 28" barrels. Thing has been pretty much flawless with over 7000 rounds through it. It was my clays gun before switching to my Browning 625. The SX3 even cycles 7/8oz loads without any trouble. I am also surprised they aren't more popular.

i was just about to ask how it did on on the light loads (7/8). i'm looking for a new auto, and this may be the ticket. i love shooting my buddy's x2, so this should be even better

deepforks, that's all I shot. A couple of boxes of Walmart Federal 7/8 oz #8 target loads. Not one hiccup. I'm really impressed with the gun...

I have the Browning Silver Hunter 20/28 and love it.
I shoot it better than any shottie I've owned.

I've had an SX3 for a couple of years now. I bought an SX1 on closeout in the late 70's from a vendor in the Houston area and used it for dove, quail, and waterfowl. My son began hunting with me a couple of years ago and since the SX1 was so reliable, I decided to let him have it. I have never had a jam or FTF in this shotgun, unlike several of my hunting buddies who spent quite a bit more money on their guns. When it came time to purchase a second shotgun, the SX3 seemed to be the logical choice since the Model 1 fit me perfectly and was so dependable. I have not been disappointed so far and the gun fits as well as the SX1. My SX3 is 12 ga. 28" barrel in duckblind camo with magnum chamber. Perfect for the Texas Gulf Coast! Fast and reliable!

I have had some experience with the SX1 and they were good shotguns. However, I don't think the SX1 and SX3 have very much in common other than the Winchester name.

They don't have anything in common.

I have a field grade SX-1 and an SX-2 Waterfowl 3.5" that's a great gun too in it's own way. It's a 2003 model I bought used and I really like it out on the water. I especially like the DuraTouch non-slip coating on the plastic camo stock.

I got an sx3 and I'm having something weird going on with it. When I load 3 shells and shoot one, I cannot reload the 3rd shell. The 2nd shells is beneath the carrier and blocks and loading ramp.

Is this normal? If not, how do I prevent the shell from getting dumped into that position before it should?

I have 2...Hunted with them the past 2 seasons....They performed flawlessly....Lightweight and light recoil....

( I've shot the Browning Silver...and its a nice gun as well / and like you said virtually identical ) since Browning / Winchester are both owned by FN these days ( the Win - even uses Browning's Invector Plus choke systems)...
