I'm going to say 10, as that is when I bought a press, gauges, etc. and started reading reloading manuals.

(I had a run-in with Lee's "Whack a Mole" 30 years ago, but I don't think it's fair to start the clock at that time... )

1972 was a good year for several here. Me too. 40 years. 40th anniversary for wife and I too. I also started with Lee....target loader .243...but after 2 days & 20 rounds experience with that, I ordered my Rock Chucker from Gander Mountain...yup, before there was Cabelas there was Gander Mountain.

Man, we have some old farts on here! Lol. On a serious note. No wonder you can get so much help on firing line, there's tons of knowledge here. Thanks everyone for your help when I needed it.

33 years. Despite the three decades + that I've reloaded, I don't consider myself to be a reloader with in depth or diverse knowledge. I only loaded handgun rounds for the vast majority of that time and then only used 4 powders. (W231, unique, 2400, and power pistol). I wasn't an experimenter, I found a load level that produced the velocity I needed and stuck with it. I just recently started taking my first stumbling steps in loading for rifles (.308 & .30-06) to improve accuracy and achieve velocity goals with hunting bullets.

I have been casting my own bullets for about the last 27 years but again, I use 1 design (SWC) per handgun caliber that I cast for.

Despite my lack of diversity, I enjoy reading of others experiences and good articles on reloading calibers that I know I'll never own or use.

Started reloading in 1966, so that makes 46 years. I think that's 828 years so far. Dang I'm starting to feel old!

I get 576 so far without G.Willikers which I would suppose to be 40 or 50 years from the sound of it. When posters say for example 15 yrs rifle/ 10 pistol, or 18-20 yrs, then I have counted the higher number only since reloading experience began then.

This is growing fast! I'm impressed at how fast it's all adding up. We might break 2 or 3K years by the time everyone chimes in. Keep 'em coming!

I grew up in Chico, ca. Oroville was 20 miles away. RCBS had a store on Orodam Blvd. Now it's Hunington's. I have loaded since 1967 with only RCBS presses, on my 3rd one now. Started with H4831 sold in paper bags, and 180 Rem Bronze points for the 30-06 03-A3
I shot everything with one rifle. Shotgun reloader since 1970. Never wasted time with pistol reloading since they are always cheap.
45 years

Can you create a survey out of this? Might be easier to get a running tally.

3 almost 4 years for me.

Have not saved a cent either. In fact I spend more money.

Buy new gun. Buy new dies, buy new powder, buy new components, buy more primers, range membership fees. Then another new gun, and the cycle goes on.

Though I will not complain I get to shoot a whole lot of ammo, and I spend a lot of time at the range.

I used to think I was one of those fellers, until I started having to help my Dad every day. I can finally say I'm stronger than he is.

Of course he's 92, only 30 years older than my 62....geeze, even my hair is grayer than his....of course he is part of the pre-McDonalds generation.

I can't remember exactly when I first began reloading.
It seems like always.
About 45 plus years would be close, though, if we're adding them all up.
Eghads.
Started with a Lee, whack it with a hammer, in .44.
It kind of made my Old Man nervous to watch.
I still have that loader, too.
Not to use, though, just as a memento.

Next.........

if you can cal muzzle loading i started when i was13 because it was all i could afford, after all 12 ga shells were 75 cents a box. and 22 was 18 cents. in a couple years i got my first rifle 44-40, dident shoot very flat but could finf 38-40 so i settle for it . 22 dallers cash money. sure wish i had it now. i been loading ever sence. i bought a 45 long colt about then but ammo was to costley so i sold both of them loaded on lyman hand tool first. i an 81 now, been a lot of cal. and reloaders under t5he bridge in 68 years. but i still like it , been thinking on 17 wildcat , any ideas? cjs

Heck yeah, muzzle loading counts.
It's reloading in the gun.
Lots of us here do that, too.
