My little collection
Hello all, today was Christmas for me because I recieved my Lyman Trade Rifle from Mid South & boy is it a bute, I can't wait to send some .495 ball down range this weekend through it.
Thought I'd share a picture of my small collection where it has pretty much made it's self at home. Sorry my 1860 Army is over a buds house to get some range time in with it. |

The blondie is my CVA Bobcat .50 cal.
I got tired of the junky plastic stock that was on it & fit a Traditions Deer Hunter kit stock on it & just used Linseed Oil on it to finish it. |

Howdy Raider !!!
I've been eye-balling that Lyman trade rifle myself but I need another .50, like a hole in the head. I did buy the S.S. Deerstalker and pretty amazing how well it shoots, out of the box with peep site. How is the wood on the trade rifle and is the bore chromed? I like your display and looking forward to more pictures. Got to have Old Glory.
This Trade Rifle has some beautiful wood with a solid grain structure & coloring & I'll find out this weekend how she shoots. No the bore does not look to have any Chrome in it but that's alright. |

Raider,
Thanks, I was curious when I saw how light it was, not often you see them that bright - yes, I like a bright blond stock! I'm not big on over-coloring any piece of wood, a little tint is fine but not changing it completely. These two are natural Red Bay, this first one is done with a satin tung oil finish (.54 x 1:66 w/ 15/16" straight octagon) This one is done with traditional gloss varnish. (.54 x 1:66 w/ 15/16" tapered octagon bbl)
