You mean rotate the cylinder, not rotate the barrel. I hope you aren't firing it in this condition? If the cylinder and barrel don't line up correctly and the gun still fires, you could have a problem.

As far as the problem, too little information to tell. Take it to a gunsmith and have them look at it. There may be a possiblity that the gun isn't worth putting any money into at all. If that's the case, retire it or destroy it.

ok tnks for the reply.....what happens is that the cylinder doesnt rotate at all when the trigger is pulled so i though maybe there was like a screw, spring or maybe a pin or something that needs to be adjusted or replaced

Yea man if you are having to rotate the cylinder to fire each shoot I would stop that right quick. If you post some pics of said gun then we may be able to see what the problem is.

I know of one pepperbox-style revolver that needs manual rotating of the cylinder in order to fire each round. But if this is a normal-type revolver that doesn't rotate after each trigger pull then something is definitely wrong and you should take it to a gunsmith for further inspection.

At the risk of making a snap decision, I'm thinking that if it's a .32 revolver, it's probably old to begin with, and probably underpowered (32 S or L). Time to hang it up and pick out a nice .38 or .357 and move forward.

does this happen to be a topbreak 32S&W maybe an iver & johnson or other brand name made in the early 1900's or late 1800's? if so it is rare to find one of these that is a good shooter....Most of them are considered a Wallhanger i.e. a piece of history to be viewed on your wall and not fired

Most likely, what's happening is that the spring that puts tension on the hand (the little arm that rotates the cylinder) is broken or disengaged (probably broken).

The gun looks pretty old. There are so many things that could be wrong. Can you rotate the cylinder in the half cock position? That will drop the cylinder stop and allow you to rotate the cylinder. If you can't then the cylinder stop lever may be broke. If you can rotate it then remove the cylinder and check to see if the hand (pawl) is coming out and moving up to rotate the cylinder. These are just a couple of many things to check for.

You have a Harrington & Richardson, not sure which model, but probably in the 632 family. It is a newer gun, though, and plenty of parts are still available for it from Numrich. (e-gunparts.com)

Here's more or less the same gun in a schematic:
