I use tite group and wanted some of your pet loads for hotter loads for defense. Also, some hollow point bullets that I get in are longer than others, wont this changs your oal? I just got 200 ranier 115 grain hollow points that have a shoulder on them. These I would assume seat right up to the shoulder. Some others I have dont have the shoulder. I noticed on a side by side comparison theat the raniier are a little shorter than the other reloads. I'm talking about the full loaded rounds. Does it make any difference if some are shorter than others depending on the brand? thanks. sj

Hello. Yes, the length and shape of the bullet can and will affect the overall length. I believe that the max length overall for 9x19mm is 1.169" so you SHOULD be OK with anything under that.

If you are having trouble and the round's not too long to cycle through the magazine, generally load it out no farther than will leave "half a caliber" seated in the case.

When using Hornady XTPs in either 115 or 124 gr, my round's LOA is 1.11", but when using a Sierra 115 or 125 gr JHP, the LOA is 1.09" due to the different shape of the bullet.

Most here counsel against loads for defense being handloads due to a number of factors: likely civil liability, unknow quality of the reload as the competence of the handloader is not known, and so forth.

I have no information or personal experience with the powder you mention, but if you're interested in a couple of loads using Unique, let me know.

Best.
