High Standard "Longhorn: Double Nine"

I've got a Longhorn .22LR revolver and the firing pen won't strike the cartridge. Where the hammer strikes, it looks like a "half circle" with the hole in the upper part; I thought maybe a safety feature? Sorry if I didn't describe that well enough, but does anyone know what I'm talking about and how to fix the problem?

Those guns have a hammer block safety to prevent the gun from firing if it is dropped on the hammer with a round in the chamber under it. But I have no idea why that should suddenly cause a problem.

Have you checked the firing pin on the hammer to make sure it is undamaged?

My High Standard Double Nine doesn't have a firing pin. The hammer strikes the case directly.

The firing pin is part of the hammer, not a separate part.

I didn't know about the hammer block safety. I always worried about the hammer getting struck. I inherited the gun from my Father in law. I appreciate the information.

It might be a good idea to take that gun to an experienced gunsmith for a checkup, as the hammer blocks have been known to become lost when the gun is disassembled. At the same time, the gunsmith can check on the reason for the odd firing pin mark.
