If you even THINK that you could ever decide to reload rifle ammo, consider the 550B, not the SDB.
I have a 550B and love it. I use it for .45 acp and .308. |

g6T6o: I have Dillon's SDB. I initially bought it to reload 45 ACP only then added 38 special am considering 9mm. Great reloader! Unbeatable service and support from Dillon. Only problem is now I am wanting a rifle in 308 so the 550B may be needed. Unlike Gewehr98 I don't have room for both. If I were starting over I would probably go with the 550B as my itch for a rifle continues to worsten. If your are positive you will never want to reload for rifle I can not imagine a better reloading tool for pistol than the SDB.

I have a SDB and an old single stage that I used for years. I started with the SDB about a year ago, and now I cannot fathom not using it. Best shooting accessory I ever bought. I don't shoot nearly the same volume of rifle ammo as I do pistol ammo, so the single stage for the rifle ammo is good enough for me, but you should listen to some of the other folks' recommendations: get the 550B if you think you will want to make any volume of rifle cartridges.

I looked very closely at the SDB right after it came out, and concluded that it was barely big enough to accomodate the poodle shooter round. .223, ya know.
Has anyone tried this? If Dillon doesn't make the specially-sized dies in .223, you *could* lathe some standard dies down to fit... Sorry, I don't own one. Looked in this thread to see if there was an extra one floatin around for sale. |
