Remington model 81 35 cal

Hi I just got a model 81 in excellent condition , I'm just curious when it was made.

Serial number is: 1863x and there is a KK onthe barrel jacket.

Can anyone help?? thanks from this Old CANUCK! Jim

Jim,

Using 'BLACKPOWDERX', I come up with May of 1941. The 'K' repeats itself in 1963.

Now if I could recall when the 740 Woodsmasters took the 81's place, I think before '63 though.

That gun is the Northern deerhunters dream! Close behind it is the 141 pump which is what I carry out here in Western Oregon.

My best guess, JT
