New, old K-31

After free floating the barrel, I think this one may be a keeper. This is at 100yds with about a 25mph crosswind. 155 Noslers with 40 gr of IMR 4064 with a length of 2.94. This rifle has a very short throat which caused me some grief the first time I took it out. 4 of the rounds were in about 0.6 inches and the first shot happend to open it to 0.9 inches. The scope is an old Tasco 3x12, made in Japan and the mount is a St. Marie out of Brownells. The rifle was made in 1944.

K-31s tend to fire better with the pressure on the barrel from the stock. Free-floating the barrel often ruins the rifles accuracy.

Edit: Or have you already? If you have... you've been lucky!

I just put 100 rounds of the Wolf 7.5 through my K-31 today, it was really good ammo. I was surprised. It's not actually made by Wolf though, it's made by a Serbian contractor.
hodaka, do you have a link to that scope mount?

I have two K31's. The first made no difference in free floating. This one would string badly prior to free floating. I thought something was wrong with the rifle so I started to try some changes. It was simple to do with only minimal wood removal. I don't have a link handy but Browell's has them. Only $125 or so for the mount. About what I paid for the rifle.

Here is the link. The price is now reasonable. I bought mine several years ago.
