carbine and pistol combo
OK I'm looking for a combo of a carbine and pistol, same caliber. Price really doesn't matter as long its something I can get soon, I can save but I don't want it to be an unrealistic price, you know how it is, I'm a high school student working for little caesar's (that translates to not much money) and obviously I have to wait a couple years till I'm 21 for a pistol. it would be awesome if I could get a combo that can both take the same mags.

Carbine and pistol combos that both take the same mags. My first recommendation would be the Ruger PC9 and P89 or 95. You'd be looking at around 650 or 700 for the set. Beyond that you could get a Marlin Camp Carbine and whatever pistol that the mags fit (can't remember, some form if Smith I think). Then there's the HiPoint which also takes pistol mags. Not sure on the costs of the others. The Marlin is out of production so you'd have to find one used. The HiPoints have their fans and their detractors. I'm neither as I've never shot one.

Ruger PC 9 & 4 are also out of production
but that is your best bet followed by the marlin choice... seems like high point or keltec has the option too.

Is their a 22lr combo I could get? This combo would be for target shooting, and I love 22's.

I can't think of a rifle/pistol combo that uses the same magazines. I have a 22/45 and 10/22 combo but the mags are worlds apart. I can't off the top of my head think of a .22 rifle that uses pistol mags.

I think (but I'm not 100% sure) that the Ruger PC9 carbine (9mm) uses the same magazines as a couple of their handguns. That's a starting point for you to look into. Good luck!

HiPoint. Handguns are ugly but functional, the carbine is just plain fun to shoot.
Carbine new is around $200, handgun is what...$130? I got my carbine used and the factory refurbished it for free (minus shipping). Both use the same mags as I understand it. |

I'm not sure if the Mechtech System carbine conversion kit for 1911s (including Para Ord for Hi-cap) and Glock pistols will appeal to you. If you just want to keep one caliber and magazines then this maybe the deal for you. It all depends if you're a Glock or 1911 kind of dude. josh

+1 on the Mech-Tech, bigtime. I have a 10mm glock mechie, and it's the pig's feces in my book.

I had a Red hawk and a marlin guide rifle both in 44 mag. Love the red hawk. Hated the Marlin. So now I just have the red hawk.
The whole carbine, pistol thing is a little much IMHO. |

beretta cx4 storm & depending on the variant of cx4 you get, you can use the same magazines as either a beretta 92fs or a beretta px4 storm.
I've got a 92fs & cx4 storm and they use the same magazines. There are other versions of the cx4 that use the magazines from the px4, or you could order the conversion parts if you can't find one that takes the magazines you want (92 vs px4) to switch it over. |

Gunslinger, if you're looking for a .22 set that uses the same mags check out the Browning Buckmark rifles and pistols. Nice guns.

I saw a walther carbine that was from a p-22. It looked pretty cool and was around $275. It may have been called a G-22?

I have and like the combo of Ruger 9mm rifle and pistol. 20 round mags from Mec Gar are reliable and not too pricey.

44 mag
you could get a Marlin lever action and any of several revolvers chambered in 44 mag. I know it doesn't fit your question but it's a cool combo, don't you think?

A Winchester 92 pattern (like the Rossi/Puma) and a Taurus Tracker. 357 or 44, take your pick (I'd suggest 357, unless you are up north where critters are big). -tINY |

I HAVE the Marlin camp rifle/S&W 5904 combo in 9MM...nice...might part with the combo, though, I'm moving up to .40 S&W...contact me @ [email protected], if interested...the pistol is rough on the exterior, but is a shooting genius.....5 or 6 magazines....

The pistol/carbine setup is especially nice for carrying in a squad car and wearing on the belt...everything close at hand, and reloads at the ready...simpler is better...of course, this is just my opinion, and have been wrong before.

Definitely Beretta 92 and CX4 carbine.
(Too bad SIG doesn't make a 9MM casrbine that uses P226 mags!)

I have and recommend the Ruger PC9/P95 combo.
Another good combo is the Buckmark Rifle/Pistol combo. Also, a 1894 and model 19 is a good choice. |

Gunslinger, I've had my Mechtech for about 4 years now, love it. Mine is the 1911 type chambered for the Roland 460 and it also shoots 45's. Let me tell you one thing, nothing short of awesome power. I've dropped pig's with 230 grain 45 hp. at 100 yards. Dropped more pig's with the Roland beyond 150 yards. And when I say dropped them, I do mean DROPPED dead in their tracks. The Roland 460 round is like a pumped 45 on steroids. The conversion cost's around $350 and have seen them for less on the internet. Last sale I think was at Clark Custom.

+1 for marlin 18" levergun .357 and revolver. .38's for plinking or .357 for WHAM! surprising what 357 will do with 18" and gapless chamber/barrel...... OR: if you can not tolerate revolvers(like my buddy) marlin camp 9+auto pistol
