How many die stations are on the 550? I use a Lee Factory crimp for the 4th run through a single stage press for .45acp and was wondering if the 550 would take 4 dies. Also, is the 550 auto indexing? Thanks in advance....

Hey Sport 45! The Dillon 550B has four die stations and accomodates the factory crimp die on the fourth station. I use the Lee taper crimp die on all my auto pistol and some rifle rounds.
The 550B is not auto indexing. For auto indexing you need the 650. I have used the 550B for a couple of years and wouldn't sell it for any amount of money. Dillon has the absolute best progressive press on the market and without a doubt the absolute best "No BS" warranty in the industry.

Hope this helps, Mikey

Thanks for the responses. I'm afraid the 550 is about as far as I can stretch my budget right now. I was considering the Lee Loadmaster, but for $40 more I can get the 550. I know I'll be giving up the auto index, but from what I've heard the 550 is a better deal. If I can get 200 rounds per hour I'll be happy.

Sport 45,

You shoudl be able to get 200 an hour easily. I just got my 550b last wednesday and it is the best machine I have ever laid eyes on. So sturdy, and it has yet in about 500 rounds failed to feed a primer, drop powder, etc. I think it is an awesome package and is well worth the money. I also use lee dies with the lee FC in station 4.

I get 4-500 per hour out of my 550b. .45 caliber. .40 caliber it is a little less, because the beass I use is a little pickey.
