.45 long Colt
Finally pulled the trigger and bought a Henry Golden Boy in .45 Long Colt. I'm getting ready to order dies and brass, but I'm looking here for some suggestions for cast bullets. Gun will be used for "plinking".
Thanks, T. |

The two 45 Colt classics are Lyman's:
#454190 (The original bullet, and most reliable lever-action feed) http://www.midwayusa.com/product/615...rain-flat-nose #452424 (Keith's SWC) http://www.midwayusa.com/Product/184...semi-wadcutter Both ~ 250gr . Last edited by mehavey; May 15, 2015 at 01:07 PM. |

I like the Lee 452-255-RF. This one: http://leeprecision.com/mold-dc-452-255-rf.html

Wow have mold prices gone up! I haven't bought a mold in over 30 years and my payback on one now doesn't look that great for the volume I will shoot. May have to stick to a Ranier style bullet.

452424 won't feed through my Henry. I use 452664 and a couple of Accurate designs.
Loaded correctly, Your Henry is MUCH more than a "plinker" I am driving a 285gr rnfpgc at 1680 fps, I think it will kill most anything it hits. My Henry is called a "Big Boy". |

Best bullets there are. IMO 45 Caliber 255 Grain Round Nose Flat Point Bevel Base is made for levers and I find them very accurate in my S&W 25 LC. When you call ask for the owner and ask him what the best diameter would be for your gun. https://www.starlinebrass.com/order-.../all-cases.cfm Go with Starline brass. 45 LC 100$ for 500 and 180$ for 1000. Great brass and its available on line from them.
