The Classifier is shot in three 30 round stages with three or more strings per stage. You will have plenty of opportunity to load magazines.
The "continuous match" business was put in to keep ranges from shooting one stage at a time over weeks or months and totaling up at the end. |

Or from shooting each stage three times a day for a week, and assembling the best score at the end.

Well, yes, but that would be called "grandbagging" and put you in a class you could not keep up with in a match.

You don't have to shoot the classifier first. Shooting a couple of matches first will actually give a better indication of your true classification once you get around to doing it.

You must be classified by shooting the Classifier before you can enter a SANCTIONED match, like a state or regional championship.
Most clubs don't rush you on it. People would be more interested in shooting the Classifier if IDPA operated like NRA. Where "unclassified" = Master. |
