Dan Wessons Rock
Got the mount put on a while back and now I'm searching for a load.
My cast loads are doing about 3 inches at 25yrds so I still need to tighten those up. But just for giggles I loaded 5 with some 140gr Hornady plastic tips I had and a good dose of Unique. I have high hopes.

OKIE That is a 357 rem mag?? Start with 12gr of 2400 and 170gr speer sp. Work up to 13gr. That 13gr load was good for right at 1400fps from a 8" barrel and 3" 100 yard groups. Not an enjoyable load to shoot but scoots right along.
Good hunting load. Killed some hogs but ened up backing it down for better one handed shots and follow up shots. have a 44 also but 240gr at 1460fps is my max. |

It's the 357 but I'm looking to shoot my cast bullets out of it, way cheaper.

I have 2. I can't wait to test out the .22 I got this fall. I need a barrel tool tho. EWK here I come!
My model 15 is awesome. I love it. DA isn't as great on them as I hoped and I cant seem to find a smith who'll do trigger work on DW revolvers.

It's a Weigand Mount, cost $35 plus shipping. It requires two taps in the barrel shroud. I've tried to make mine come loose and it's solid. CZ also makes one but they are out of stock and said they weren't sure when they would make any more.

My 722 is just frightening. can easily shoot right along with any of my autos except the High Standard.
Usually the DW has a beautiful trigger. Have you opened it up to make sure nothing is rubbing in there.

Re: Dan Wessons Rock
What is the "street price" of the DW pistol pack? I am going to start saving now and need to set goals/budget.

My oldest DW from '76 when new I take it apart to clean well and at that time I radiused all the edges of the parts in the trigger group and 1000gr wet papae using oil polished the sides only. Cut up a couple oem hammer springs try'n to find a lighter reliable trigger pull. When wolff had springs for it I changed only the hammer spring, lubed with breakfree clp. 2lb SA and 5lb DA pull. Maybe many years of shooting has smoothed it up a bit more but don't think a smithy can make them much better and still be reliable.

Taking it apart and looking over everything is a good idea. It's a very simple mechanism, unlike a lot of revolvers and is very easy to figure out. Only one of my 15-2's was rough inside, the hammer had some burrs on it and a little stone work, and a whole lot of dry firing, enough to get my mother to yell, "Stop that!" and then a little cleaning inside and some teflon lube, and more dry firing made it the best of all my DW's. The 15-2 I have now is pretty close, and the 715 isn't far behind it.
