Clarify something for me.. AR Brake & Stock

This does pertain to Connecticut.

I'm putting together my PSA upper and have a question...

The muzzlebrake, I know has to be permanently attached. But, will pinning it be ok? Do i also need to weld?

Also, the collapsable stock. I have a Magpul Moe. Do i need to pin that as well? Or will replacing the adjuster pin with a cap screw be okay?

Im getting conflicting answers, and the reason why Im asking is because i bought a Stag Model 1 last year. The muzzle brake is just pinned. You can see the pin underneath clearly. It is not welded.

Also, the stock is not pinned. It just has a cap screw going through where the lever adjuster would be.

This is a stock Stag, bought from the dealer, and is Connecticut compliant.

Blind pinning worked for the 1994 ban, not sure if Connecticut just regurgitated the federal ban. Blind pinning is so the pin can only go in and you cannot access the far side to drive the pin back out. TIG welding over this looks better but will damage the finish.

OK to your questions

Most anti states want the mods to be permanent . Here is where you run in to trouble . What does your state consider permanent . That is what you need to find out .

A buddy of mine always says when I ask stuff like this . Do you want to be the guy in court defending how you built your rifle . The state has hundreds of lawyers and an unlimited budget . What do you have ? These are the types of thing you don't want to mess with . Is it worth losing your right to buy any more guns EVER because your name goes on some list . call and or write your atty.gen they will have the answer . I'm sure there is something online that states what is excepted . Make sure it's an official state website .

I checked those sites out. They really dont explain what is consider permanent. Very vague... I might just call the state, but i dont understand why people are saying pinned and welded when mine came just pinned. Id rather not weld it and ruin my finish like blfuller mentioned.

The state sure dont make it easy to get info, huh?

You could try a local gun smith . They would know all the laws and or should know .
