I received a Winchester 1300 Black Shadow with a rifled barrel for Christmas and I was wondering if it is safe to shoot shot loads through the barrel? I haven't done it yet because I'm unsure. The manual doesn't explicitly say that it will ruin the barrel, but I don't want to take any risks. TIA.

Jeremy - it's safe, but the rifling imparts a spin to the shot mass. This results in patterns with a hole in the middle.
If you want to shoot shot loads, better to get another barrel. Giz
