185 Bergers

what powder are you using to push these in a 308 win?

Varget and RL 15 will be tried but some online stuff suggested Varget is slightly too fast for this weight bullet?

when I get ready to try them I'll be useing 4064.My reason for this powder is that I am wanting to keep one bullet one powder for use with different loads.Plus a guy at snipershide is running them with great accuracy.( Jugernaught ) not the VLD.The load he is useing is 42.5gn with the bullet just touching the lands.( his rifel )

When the .308 was winning and setting records in high power matches, IMR4064 was "the" powder for 168 through 190 grain bullets. For heavier ones, IMR4350 won its share and set some records, too.

Berger's data shows a start load of 38.0 grains and a max of 42.1 grains of RE-15 with the 185 VLD in 308. Brand of brass was not specified.

With Varget they showed a start load of 37.5 with a max of 41.6

RyeDaddy pegged it. I would only load a few at the min value as you will want to go up from there any how. I think when you hit about 41.6 and up is where you will see the accuracy come into play. My load in 308 Savage FVSS is 42.3 gn RL-15 for the 185.

ok good info. Thanks

Yeah because with that bullet need the higher node to stabilize it to 1000 yard load. I guess for 600 yard load could tweak it down some

What velocity are you seeing with that load?
