Sellier & Bellot Primers?

I was thinking about placing a large order for Sellier and Bellot small pistol primers. Intended uses are 9mm, .40, .357 (loads for standard primers), .38 Special and .38 Super.

I was already to buy when I noticed their website...

Look closely at the table. They're recommending Small Pistol Magnum primers for .40 S&W and Small Rifle Primers for .357 magnum.

Huh? I've never seen a manufacturer recommend magnum primers for .40 S&W or small rifle primers for .357 magnum.

Thoughts? Has anyone actually used these?

Haven't used any, yet, but have used and like their loaded ammo. Who is selling their primers?

FWIW CCI small rifle is nearly identical in every aspect to small pistol magnum. S&B is probably similar in that regard.

I´ve used thousands of them along with CCI, Win and Rem. They are very good and the only non american primers I´ve ever used. Can´t tell any difference. I only use small pistol for 9mm, .32 sw long and .38 Spcl.

Here`s a simple non scientific test for small primers.

Ya need a couple of new #2 pencils , seat ya primers , chamber the primed round , point barrel straight up & fire it , note how high it goes & damage to eraser/pemcil.

Normal Safety gear applies.

Like I said , not very scientific ,but will give ya a good idea when comparing the strength of primers .

Always start over when changing components , especially in low volume , hi pressure rounds .

With my exp in 357Mag & MAX I WOULD NOT attempt to use SR primers in the smaller cases without published data !

You may find S&B primers seat noticeably lower in American cases (and conversely US primers seat high in S&B cases)
