Headstamp ID
I was shooting yesterday at my local Sheriff's Office range and between strings happened to wander over to the brass bucket. Our police marksmen use that range and sometimes the brass bucket provides good scrounging opportunities. I managed to find some .308 brass and from a long and enjoyable history with that range, I know that when those boys are shooting, they're using new ammo. I scored some Fed .308 brass that I'm sure was used in Gold Medal ammo, and some WCC-08 NATO brass. However, there were a few pieces of brass with a headstamp that I don't recognize. I apologize for the photo, but after a dozen attempts this is the best I can do.
It says, B81/7.62/R1M1. The primer pocket has three small crimps, and it's Berdan primed. Because it's Berdan primed, it's going into the scrap bucket, but I'm intriqued about where this brass might have come from? Thanks in advance. |
