hi , does anyone know where I can buy in bulk .30 fmj approx 180 gr match grade bullets , sorry i luv fmj bullets over hp, rabbit

Do you mean 308? I'm a bit confused at your formatting and lack of proper punctuation. Are you looking for FMJ's or HP's?

Don't know about 180 gr FMJs, but Wideners still has 173 gr M72 style match bullets available.

180gr is too heavy for your rifle. You may want to look at Hornady .308" 150gr FMJ or Sierra .308" 168gr HPBT. There are no heads on a cartridge.

Out of curiosity, what powder type/weight and primer were you planning on using?

rabbit, as far as I can tell from the 1k 173gr FMJBT's from Wideners on my bench they are new, not pulled, although I don't think it would make a difference in how they shot.

If you aren't going to shoot past 800, and you want the most bang for your buck in the accuracy department, get a bunch of 168 gr HPBTs and load them up for your Garand with IMR4895 or IMR4064. They shoot tight.

I shoot these in a 308 bolt gun and like them a lot. I shot some in an FN FAL with a 16" barrel, and they worked there too.

I do not know why 175-180 would not work in a 30-06. But, similar 150 gr bullets are also available. These are all new bullets at Wideners.

Normally 180 gr bullets are a tad on the heavy side for the Garand gas system, but that really isn't the full story as it is port pressure. The old 173 gr pill over 4895 was the national match loading for many years. Some competitors used 180 grain pills and handloads, others made a sort of "Mexican Match" by pulling the 173 fmj's and using 168gr HPBTs in their place.

A McCann adjustable gas plug solves all this port pressure issues.
