A friend who is moving overseas gives you the brass, bullets and dies for a caliber you don't own.

You then go out and buy rifle in said caliber and scope.

Guilty as charged.

I've done that one too, but I've had to but dies,powder,bullets and a gun to use brass that I've picked up at the range.

I'm a founding member of "Brassrats Anonymous"and no it's not helping.

2 each 12AX7 (Sovtek brand)
2 each 12AT7 (Sovtek brand)
4 each 6550C (Svetlana brand)

Future plans include perhaps some Mullards or Golden Lion KT-88's for the main driver tubes. In the meantime, the Soviet military tubes sound pretty darned good, although the $1200.00 price tag of this particular tube amp probably has something to do with the sweet sound.

Hey, it still is a gun-related post, because I agonized a long time whether I was gonna spend the above money on either the tube amplifier or a new Tikka 595 Master Sporter in .308 Winchester and scope. So now I'm still saving money by using the primer trays as coasters, eventually I'll get that Tikka!

You build a small computer to run Windows Office 2000, specifically Microsoft Access, so you can always have your reloading database and Excel ammo inventory spreadsheet close at hand. (Kinda ties in with having your computer on the same bench as your reloading equipment!)

1) You are continuously striving for a more accurate load -- one that spits all the empties into one small pile.

2) After you fire a shot off you immediately look to see where the case went, before checking the target.

When you take your 11 and 5 year old duaghters to the range at dusk to help collect brass. The little one had a hard time identifing between brass and blazers so I told her to pick everything lol. The oldest is married now and still mentions the slave labor. I told her the grandduaghter is going with me when she gets walking lol.

And yes I bought a 9 and 45 when I got enough brass. Hmmm getting alot of 40 now and you had to mention it.

And playing with your new 550 all day on Christmas and getting hollered at.

How about leaving Blue Presses all around the house with the 550 page opened and circled 6 months before x-mas and having friends calling the wife to see if I got my new press yet.

I guess I must be one. When you love loading as much as shooting. When the trash man gets a bag of clips from the wheelweights and bitches the weight oh well. Boon

If I was rich enough to shoot FGM or BH, I'd never even bend over to look at the brass for dents. What a waste of time reloading is; for 20% more accuracy than OEM. In one way or another, everyone else's viewpoint is a result of being cheap (no offense, guys). But no one else has said they prefer it equal to shooting. You win.

Having clearly witnessed a television set, a bottle of car wax and of all damX things a clock ,close to your reloading area I must say I have some initial doubts about the degree if devotion you bring to "the bench". These are evidence of outside interests, are they not??

Please disregard these comments in advance if these items are in temporary storage in this area and are, in fact, to be used as targets.

Has anyone become a better cook since they started reloading?

I'm a pretty good cook now that I know how to measure and weigh things. After risking life and limb with My reloading skills, and getting 6.5gr of Unique with a 230FMJ to shoot straight, baking brownies is second nature.

There is a method to my madness. The tv is to here the weather before work as to know if I load up the irons to head to the range afterwork and a few shooting shows. The clock is to insure I get to work by seven to buy all my goodies and to get upstairs for snuggle time to keep her happy also as she likes to buy me some nifty presents now and again. The polish in the media make for real pretty brass as you can see in the bucket. Ahhhhhhh nothing like loading ammo at 5 in the morning with a good cup of coffee.

"down to 5000 rnds loaded, better crank up the press tonight"

That occured for me yesterday and I realized I am a true reloader... (Made 1500 rnds of 38 special last night, you never can have enough ready to go.)

We are an odd bunch. My minimum supply is 1,000 rounds per caliber. Usually like to keep a couple times that amount on hand.

If I ever gave the "authorites" reason to raid my house they would probably flip out.

Wonder how much WS2 keeps around?

...when you do as I just did. Experimenting to get a pet load in 44 mag with a powder which has no loading data for that caliber.
I succeeded, though first 6 spent cases had to be hammered out of the cylinder. Went down 1.5 grains from 10 to 8.5 and got a real nice plinking load. 240 grains and about 1000 fps.
