Remington modle 514 single shot .22. I got it for my 16th birthday in 1960.Mom said it cost 29 dollars and we were so poor she had to make payments on it,5 dollars a month haha.I had a gunsmith put a scope on it and I had it out to the range yesteday and shot 1 inch groups at 40 yards with Winchester Super-X and CCI MiniMags. hdbiker

Mine was an early 60s xmas gift: Mossberg 22 semiauto with a Western Field 4x scope. Loved that gun. Passed it down to my younger brother when I went to college and never saw it again after that. I think he sold it for beer money.

my first gun purchase was a M1911A1 .45 auto

I still own both guns

My first "gun" was a Crossman BB gun when I was 7, 8, 9, I don't remember exactly. My first real firearm was a Ruger 10/22 circa 1994, which I still have.

My first two firearms were a No. 1 Mk III* Lee-Enfield and a Berthier M1916 carbine that my dad shipped home from France in 1945. He was billeted in a chateau in France and discovered a whole room full of all kinds of weapons in a basement storeroom, probably a resistance cache.

He had a German POW trustee working for him who suggested that, if he wanted to send a couple home, he would make a box for him. My dad said "OK" and told the POW to pick a couple. Well naturally, the German didn't pick a nice 98k Mauser; He picked two "enemy" rifles.

Anyway, after the box was shipped home, my dad got a little worried about it and sent a letter to my uncle (his brother-in-law) to be real careful when opening it because of the possibility of a booby trap.

The sad part of it is that, at one time many years ago, I happened on the capture papers, and told my mother to hang on to them as I was in a transition move and not in a position at that time to take them. Sometime between then and their final move to AZ the papers were lost.

I still have both rifles.

I started really late, I waited until the AWB ban talks and got an SKS out of panic. I honestly never really thought about getting a gun until the gubment told me they didn't want me to have one. it has turned out to be a really rewarding hobby and have the liberals to thank for it. who would of thought that would have backfired on them? atwo years later and I have a dozen guns.

I have one of those, an inheritance from a grandpa I never knew. It is a Tack Driver, I tell you, even with loose action screws I was hitting dandelions from 25 feet. I haven't shot it since I cleaned it and tightened down the action screws. They're wonderful rifles, Ni was rh in NJ find getting it re blued and putting a scope on it. Might even put some swivels in it so I can take it hunting easier.

I'm not sure of the model name but my first gun was a Mossberg bolt action 12 gauge. I still own it but it has only been fired a couple times in the last five years.

A Winchester 189? pump in .22 Short only,,,
I bought it at a farm auction in the very early 60's,,,
The Magazine rod was missing so I got it cheap for $5.00.

It had a long octagonal barrel and was extremely accurate,,,
It was death from afar for rabbits, squirrels, and rats at the old dump.

Is this what you were referring to?

If so it was an Ithaca Model M49,,,
My cousin had one of these and it was a nice rifle,,,
I could always outshoot him with my Winchester but his was way cool.

Actually my dad's was a Model 71 Saddle gun. It shoots well, but has a lot of failure to fires, I need to get it checked out by a gunsmith.

My first firearm was a 20 gauge single shot with either Montgomery Wards or Sears (I don’t remember which) on the receiver. My parents bought it for me as a Christmas gift circa 1968. Like a dummy, I sold it to my brother for $20 and he sold it, so it’s long gone. Not that it’s worth anything other then sentimental.

Remington 581 .22, bought new in 1980 when I was 13. I still have it, just put a new scope on it last year. Still the most accurate gun I have, will make quarter size groups at 50 yards with even cheap ammo.

My first was a .22 Single shot Springfield rifle. I still have it, but do not shoot it due to a very worn sear. It is labelled short/long/and long rifle. Many years ago I shot a .22 Long Rifle in it and the bolt blew out to the rear. No injuries except to my pride. That was repaired (using a system called brazing) and the rifle was used with .22 shorts and CeeBee rounds for many years after. The rifle was given to me by my Dad in 1943. He purchased it (not sure where) for $7 some years before it became mine. As a youngster I know of one winter it spent propped in a tree in the back acreage.

First firearm I assumed ownership of was a 20 gauge Sears & Robuck bolt-action shotgun. Was actually my Dad's and when he started taking me hunting with him -- it quickly became mine

First firearm purchased for myself was a 4" Blue Colt Trooper MK III 357 magnum revolver. My oldest son has now "assumed" ownership of this firearm.
