I ran into an Ithica 20 gauge shotgun the other day that is for sale. The problem is the seller and the buyer (maybe?) don't know what it's worth.
Maybe someone can help. On the barrel it's marked model 1894? or maybe 1897. It's in great condition 95-99% I can't find anything about it in my gun traders guide, or the firearm classifieds that I am aware of on the internet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Trigger Jerk:
It would seem that if it is 95%, the markings would be easily readable. From what you desctibe, it may have been re-blued, erasing the clearnes of the markings. Take a #2 graphite pencil, go over the marikings. This should raise them enough to read them. The earliest pumpt gun I can find is the 37. hjn |

The markings were clearly readable, it's my memory that isn't clear. In any event, I'm going to see the gun again this Sunday, and I'll take a note pad and pencil with me.
Thanks for your response. |

Okay, here's the scoop. It apears to be just a normal Ithica model 37 20 gauge. I was wrong about the pre 1900 markings. Real nice gun. Smooth action, light, and fits me well. The owner wants to sell, and I want to buy, but niether of us know what a fari price to both of us might be.
Any input? thanks. |
