1903 Detail Strip Q (easy)
Just like my Q on the garand...
Stock removal? I have the upper band off, lower band loosened... how does one remove guard screws? And, am I correct in assuming those are the ones on the side of the stock, not the ones fore and aft of the magazine floorplate and trigger guard, right? Thanks Mike

Guard screws?
Once the barrel bands are loose and slid forward to the front sight, just pull off the upper handguard. Then remove the two trigger guard / magazine plate screws and the barreled action should come out of the stock. What's a guard screw? Regards. |

The screws on the side of the stock are reinforcement screws. Do not remove them.
To get the action out, remove the guard screws on the trigger guard. |

Ah ha!
The pamphlet that came with my '03 called them guard screws...and they do mean the ones by the trigger guard. Copy. Gotcha. Thanks! Mike
