Garand reassembly problems: twisted bolt etc.
This is The first time for disassembly, re-, after rubbing grease on a few desired areas.
Somehow, the bolt alignment looks out of place. The cut outs in the bolt's face seem out of position with the receiver. Have no idea how that could have happened. But in order to have enough room to pull out the op rod spring again, the bolt must some how be pulled out, to allow enough space for the op rod-and now the op rod is twisted to the side/jammed tight. GOOD news (over an hour later). Somehow the op rod spring catch at the rear came unjammed (nothing broke), and the bolt was not out of place. But it certainly looks that way. Look this over and see it it will help. The bolt has to be in a certain position for the OP rod to go back on correctly.
