357 sig bullet size
Reloading data seems to suggest one can use either .357 dia. (Speer Gold Dot) bullets for the 357 sig while other indicate that .355 bullets should be used. Any thoughts

.357 Sig
The only thing 357Sig and .357 Magnum have in common is the name. The 357 sig bullets are .355 in diameter just like 9mm. I would caution against it as you are now adding an unknown factor in raising pressures.

I'm getting ready to reload 357SIG. Everything I've read, without exception, says .355. Bullet type is also very important due to the limited bearing space. If the crimp isn't just right, bullet set back can be a big problem. Check out Pete Jordan's web site here:

A thought
When you load for it make sure the bullets can go around 1100 or better fps. I almost used some Berry's for mine and noticed that at the last min. The 9mm bullets don't go much above that while the 357 sig and mag does and the bullets for that are made for the FPS and they are a hair bigger.

Here's a quote regarding 357SIG from page 504 of the Speer Reloading Manual # 13:
"In spite of its name, this cartridge uses .355" bullets - the same as the 9mm Luger. LARGER .357" BULLETS INTENDED FOR THE 38 SPECIAL AND 357 MAGNUM MUST NOT BE USED." Note that the second sentence is in all capital letter. |

The use of 9mm bullets for reloading is great.
Think of all the bullet styles that are available... |
