Pre '64 M70 trigger & scope
I was given this Pre '64 M70 in .300 H&H mag by my ex-wife's grandfather years ago. It's a standard grade with what I assume is a custom trigger job. anybody seen a setup like this that can help me identify it?
Also this is a great scope setup, detachable and keeps its zero. Does anybody know about Hensoldt scopes (German) or know of a resource for me to learn about them? [IMG][/IMG] |

Don't know anyting about the scope but I'm sure it is of high quality optics of the time period that the scope was built. Probably on par with Zeiss of the same time period. The mounts you have are called "Claw" mounts, and are known to be very reliable to return to zero. The triggers are set triggers I have the same triggers on my .25-06. I'd say it is a very European style set up on that old rifle.

Looks like someone fell in love with European rifles. Double set triggers, claw mounts, looks like someone spent time in Germany after the war. FWIW, your rifle was made in 1960.

I should have mentioned that my ex-wife's grandfather was Swiss, so that explains the euro flavor. He was a hunter and he just got too old to walk the mountains and bear the .300 H&H recoil so he gave the rifle to me.

I have been studing model 70's for decades now so have some knowledge. Your rifle was manufactured between 1960 and 1963. The triggers and the triggerguard are not factory. Unuasual to say the least.
